Jon Abbate
Jon Abbate, born June 18, 1985, is a standout football player from the Houston Texans. He was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and attended college at Wake Forest University.
Abbate was noticed for his stellar performance in the 2006-2007 season, considering that he had come fresh from several injuries. At the conclusion of said season, he decided that he wanted to be drafted into the NFL. Though unsuccessful, he was later on signed into contract by the Houston Texans.
The death of his brother by a car accident in 2006 affected Abbate, such that he asked his coach if he could change his jersey number to that of his late brother’s lacrosse jersey number. Having changed his number from 40 to 5, Abbate moved on, while this symbolism would later have sequels from fans.
