Shawn Barber, born January 14, 1975, is a linebacker for the Houston Texans. Barber hails from Richmond, Virginia, and was drafted by the NFL in 1998. Throughout his career, he has played for the Washington Redskins, Philadelphia Eagles, and Kansas City Chiefs.

Barber started his career in high school, as he attended Hermitage High School in Richmond. As a freshman in college, he started as a safety but was later moved to being a linebacker. His four seasons in college amassed to a total of 44 games.

Barter is a well-rounded athlete who has also received distinct honors in basketball and track during his high school years.
